It’s tempting after an experience like this to feel like never loving again. But before you take this drastic measure take a little look at this piece of wisdom…

to love…

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one. Not even an animal. Wrap it carefully with hobbies and luxuries, avoid all entanglements and keep it safe in the casket of your selfishness. But in the casket – safe, dark, motionless, airless – it will change. It will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable”. C.S Lewis The Four Loves

Dealing with Rejection by Others

Thankfully Jesus new all about rejection! He was “despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.”
(Isaiah 53:3, NIV).

In fact there would be little or no point in believing in a creator or saviour that wasn’t familiar with our suffereings. There is a deep mystery in suffering and rejection that actually teaches us about the meaning and value of love. For it is only when rejected that we are forced to re-think and question our values and beliefs.

open-bibleonwhiteWhat The Bible Says on How To Deal with Rejection

We reject God when we refuse His offer of salvation. Matthew 21:42, NIV. “Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures, the stone the builders rejected has become the capstone”

Anyone who rejects God is a fool., Psalm 14:1, TLB. “That man is a fool who says to himself, “There is no God! Anyone who talks like that is warped and evil and cannot really be a good person at all.”
