Forgiveness
and Salvation
What the Christian Bible says on being saved
"Salvation is given to Christians
that endureth to the end!"

Forgiveness
& Salvation - what the Bible says

God
offers us salvation through Jesus. Matthew
1:21, TLB. "And she will have a Son, and you shall name
Him Jesus (meaning 'Savior'), for He will save His people from
their sins." Acts 4:12, NIV says, "Salvation is found in no one
else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by
which we must be saved."
Salvation
means we receive eternal life if we enter into a personal relationship
with God.
John 17:3, TLB. "And this is the way to have eternal life -by
knowing You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one You
sent to earth!" John 3:16, NIV says, "For God so loved the world
that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him
shall not perish but have eternal life."
There
is only one way to salvation and its not the easy road.
Matthew 7:13-14, TLB.
"Heaven can be entered only through the narrow gate! The highway
to hell is broad, and its gate is wide enough for all the multitudes
who choose its easy way. But the gateway to Life is small, and
the road is narrow, and only a few ever find it."
Salvation
and forgiveness cannot be earned, it is a gift.
Ephesians 2:8-9, TLB.
"Because of His kindness, you have been saved through trusting
Christ. And even trusting is not of yourselves; it too is a gift
from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good we have done,
so none of us can take any credit for it."
Receiving
salvation is a powerful, personal response to the gospel including
repentance for sin. Acts 2:37-38, TLB.
"These words of Peter's moved them deeply, and they said to him
and to the other apostles, "Brothers, what should we do?"And
Peter replied, "Each one of you must turn from sin, return
to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness
of your sins."
Receiving
salvation is simple, direct, personal, and public.
Romans 10:8-10,
TLB.
"For salvation that comes from trusting Christ--which is what
we preach--is already within easy reach of each of us; in fact,
it is as near as our own hearts and mouths. For if you tell others
with your own mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord, and believe
in your own heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will
be saved. For it is by believing in his heart that a man becomes
right with God; and with his mouth he tells others of his faith,
confirming his salvation."
Matthew
11:28-30
Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven,
that one of these little ones should perish.
Matthew
18:14
Whether of them twain did the will of [his] father? They say unto
him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you,
That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God
before you.
Matthew
22:9-10
For many are called, but few [are] chosen.
Matthew
22:14
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, [thou] that killest the prophets, and
stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have
gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens
under [her] wings, and ye would not!
Matthew
24:14
When Jesus heard [it], he saith unto them, They that are whole
have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came
not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Mark
2:17
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the
gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall
be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Mark
16:15-16
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you
good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
Luke
2:31-32
And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
Luke
3:6
Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven;
for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, [the same]
loveth little.
Luke
7:47
And they shall come from the east, and [from] the west, and from
the north, and [from] the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom
of God. And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and
there are first which shall be last.
Luke
13:29-30
Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and
bade many: And sent his servant at supper time to say to them
that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready. And they
all with one [consent] began to make excuse. The first said unto
him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and
see it: I pray thee have me excused. And another said, I have
bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee
have me excused. And another said, I have married a wife, and
therefore I cannot come. So that servant came, and shewed his
lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said
to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the
city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt,
and the blind. And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou
hast commanded, and yet there is room. And the lord said unto
the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel [them]
to come in, that my house may be filled. For I say unto you, That
none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.
