Should We Be Evangelising People?

What Does the Bible Say About Evangelism?

open-bibleonwhiteMany people are unsure about the Bible’s stance on evangelism and have a variety of questions and worries. Should we stand in the street? Should we go door to door or should we just evangelise people we know?

I would say that as long as you respect people’s choice to say no and we aren’t rude or insensitive – then all of the above are sometimes useful. Sometimes people need to hear the directness of a street preacher who plants a seed as they walk by.

This same person then may ask another friend questions later on. So the thing is we can all play our part in our different ways. Let’s see what the Bible says on Evangelising.

Jesus Commands us to ALL to Make Disciples or All Men!

Matthew 28:18-20: And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

We Have Lot’s of Work to Do!

Matthew 9:37-38:  Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest.”

Evangelism is Good For You!

Philemon 6: And I pray that the sharing of your faith may become effective for the full knowledge of every good thing that is in us for the sake of Christ.

People That Love Truth will Respond!

John 10:16:  And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.

Jesus is the Only Way of Salvation

John 14:6: Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

The Holy Spirit Will Help You Get the Job Done

Acts 1:8: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

Romans 10:11-15: How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
