Hello. I wanted to read the article “Depression Help” on your site, but the first few paragraphs are partially obscured by a search bar and links along the right side of the screen. I then opened several other articles and noticed that some had this same problem, while others didn’t. I’m using IE8 as my browser. Just thought I’d let you know about this issue, since it makes the affected articles impossible to read fully. Thanks!

    Hello,

My name is Brandon. I’m 26 and have been calling myself a Christian since I was 14. At the time, I was so paranoid that I was messing up the acceptance of Jesus prayer that I’m sure I said it 100 times.

Although my life is far from lined up with God’s word, I have no doubts about his existence. Never have. I feel it’s honest to share though, that I don’t think I’ve ever actually experienced God’s presence. That is, I don’t believe I’ve ever been man enough to actually give enough of myself to God and feel his power in return.

Currently, I’m finding myself straying further from the word. My girlfriend and I, while both ‘saved’ participate in premarital sex. I don’t attend church because I’m lazy, and I simply don’t read any of my Bibles. Saying these things, reinstates something deep within me, and I’ll tell myself I’m going to change, right now. But in a couple of hours, the human part of me will dull any spiritual senses and I’ll keep living a sinful life.

I don’t really know what to do.

    Thanks

Brandon, your spirit (the born again side) that happened when you placed your faith in Christ alone is fighting with your flesh. It happened to Paul. Have you read that before where he says, “Oh wretched man that I am. Who will deliver me from this body of death?” And his answer is the Lord. It is a discipline, but just like with exercise, the more you focus on him and surrender your will and your life and put him first, the stronger your walk will be. Reckon yourself (Brandon) dead and alive to Christ. If you are not dating a saved girl, stop that. God does not want an unequal yoke. Surround yourself with other believers who delve into the Bible. Start to memorize passages that give you power (Thy Word Have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against Thee.) You are a child of the King. See yourself as that. Confess your sins and get into fellowship and keep confessing to Him when you fail. The more you fill your head with Him, the less you will fill it with the world and it’s ideas. The Word is how you will grow. Good Christian radio. Bible-believing teachers. These are all helpful to you and they are there if you wish. There is a promise that says, “He who desires to know of the doctrine (teaching) will know it.” Sounds to me like you have a desire. Forget the past things that weigh you down. If you are having sex and that is what you want, get married. God invented sex, but for a marriage between two believers. You have been saved for a purpose; to glorify the Lord. You are honestly assessing yourself (great!). This is good. You are heading in the right direction, just keep going.
